SpeedBoost Privacy Policy

Browser extension for Chrome and Edge. Effective 4 October 2026.

SpeedBoost does not collect, store on any server, sell or share any personal data. Everything it does happens inside your browser on your own computer.

What the extension reads, and why

What the extension stores

Your settings (automatic sleep on or off, the sleep delay, sites you protect) and two counters (number of clean-ups, total memory freed). They are kept in Chrome's own extension storage. Settings may sync between your own browsers through your browser account, the same way your bookmarks do. Tab information is used only while the popup is open and is not saved.

What the extension changes

Only what you confirm: putting tabs to sleep, closing duplicate tabs and, if you tick it, clearing the browser cache. Clearing the cache does not remove cookies, history or saved logins. If you turn on automatic sleep, unused tabs are put to sleep for you. Pinned tabs, tabs playing audio and sites on your protected list are never touched.

Network and third parties

SpeedBoost has no servers, analytics, advertising or tracking, and it loads no code from the internet. The only images it loads are the small icons of tabs you already have open, which come from those same websites. No data about you or your tabs is sent anywhere. If you click a link in the extension (for example to rate it), that page opens in a normal browser tab under that website's own policy.

Removing your data

Remove the extension from your browser and everything it stored is deleted with it.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Questions can be sent through the developer contact on the SpeedBoost page in the Chrome Web Store.
